Miramax are the type of company's that would produce my film because they produced other films such as Bridget Jones diary which is in the same genre which is romantic comedy.





i think this would be the start of my film. i chose paramount because they have produced the type of films that my film has tried to follow. Films such as grease which was a very big hit and didnt just appeal to there target audience but to a much wider range of people and different ages.

Gender- The way we represent the male character is that he is the big shot. who makes the money. We make the woman character to be more unorganised and stressed like she needs looking after. As the man tries to find the women he is in control and he is the strong character.

Age- Both our carchters are young so its different to most rom-coms as usally the chartcers would be around 35/40 so we can see the male charatcer will be more of an up and coming bisness man. the girl has maybe just left her mum and dads house and looking for work.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My film follows the normal conventions of a Rom-com, by using a male and a female who are completely opposite, they are at different scale of class, the male character is a wealthy businessman. The women is more middle class and is unemployed very unorganised, this is a big contrast which is used in most rom-coms these days. We challenged the conventional side of a rom-com by using a very different story line.

Male character:
he is a young high class business man, who is quite full of him self. he is short for a male this is going to add the comedy side to the film as Emily the female character is quite tall. he works for a big corporate company.

Female character:crazy character, she isn't very organised and is very all over the place this makes her stressed out. she is a bit younger then Darren the male character but she is taller then Darren and she is tall for a girl this adds to the comedy of the film.

wallander - Opening Sequence

Film title:

The film title is different because it isn’t shown straight away As this is a series programme. Yet the titles are still very effective. They use the colours black and yellow these colours represent danger as they are often used for warning signs. The fact they used these colours to show danger instead of the normal red colour which shows there could be some kind of twist to the film.

Setting /location:

The setting is like a country side we see a big ocean and loads of grass. So the audince will think they are just in the middle of now where. So being so far away from maybe the city or people if something happens no one will no that startes to get you thinking what has happened in this unknown location.

Why is memento a good thriller

i found the opening sequence of memento to really fit the genre of thriller well, The first thing to suggest it is a thriller is the opening credits and the titles. the dark blue writing and black background is a very cliche thing which you see at the start of many thrillers. It also uses extreme close ups and close ups which are used in thrillers, the fact close ups was used increases suspense at make the audience more engrossed in the film.

Memento Opening Sequence

Film Title:

The title and credits of this film come up in a cold dark blue colour which tells you it is going to be a very chilly thriller, the writing is on a plain black background so it is giving us no clue of what this film is going to be about. The writing actually starts of more light blue but as it fades away the text becomes a really dark blue to give it a nice effect and make the audience wonder why the writing is doing this.

Setting:

The setting is given to us by a sort of narrator voice which we assume is the voice of the main character explaining he is in a empty hotel room, but there is also another location which we are not to sure about because the shots showing the location are close up shots. These shots are used to keep the audience in suspense close up shots are used often n thriller films as they don’t give away to many clues.

Camera work and editing:

We begin the clip with a lot a long close up shot of a hand shaking the picture the picture isn’t very clear but we can kind of see blood splattered in the picture. As the hand shakes the picture it seems to become blurry. This will confused the audience at this point and make them ask questions such as “why is the picture disappearing, and why is there a picture of blood splattered all over the wall” there is then a close up shot of blood and we relies that everything is happening in reverse which explains why the picture was becoming blurry. Everything going in reverse would come under editing as it would have been done after the shots was done this is really clever editing and they used to close up to keep suspense and confusing to the audience.

How the story opens:

The story opens up with a close up of the photo and showing a man being shpt in the head but they show it in reverse, the way the story opens up it makes the audience ask a lot of questions. Like “why did the man shot him and why did he take a picture of it after he did it”. The audience will also want to know how they got to this place and what is the motive behind the shooting of the man.

This is the bus stop where Emily and Darrren bump into eachother and have the awkward moments this bring the comedy into the opening sequence and show the genre rom-com.

Story Board

This is the story board me and my group created for our film. The reason we made a storyboard is to help us with organization because the story board tells as the type of shots, the location and how long the shots should last.This was one of the most important parts of planning. With out this are filming would take longer because we would be trying to remember shots from memory instead of having a guide to look at.

This is an alarm clock sound which is going to be used for Darren's alarm clock at the beginning which is a corporate sounding alarm clock.

Casting

Darren: we chose Darren because he is a keen actor and looks the eldest out of our group, so fits the role of the character which means we keep the suspension of belief. Also he felt more comfortable playing the role as there are some awkward shots and he knows the other actress, which will make the opening sequence more believable.

Emily: We chose Emily as the actor because she best suited the female role. She was the oldest looking in the group and she has done acting in the class before. She also knows Darren so the awkward scenes within the film will not be as hard to film.
